Payment Receipt

A receipt that knows the invoice it settles. Pick the invoice from your history and the balance is computed — no mental arithmetic, no separate ledger.

Worked example: invoice total ₹11,800 → receipt for ₹5,000 → balance due ₹6,800, printed on the receipt. A second receipt for ₹6,800 takes the balance to ₹0 and marks the invoice Paid in My Documents. No invoice to tie it to? The standalone receipt says so on its face.

Create the receipt

Saving records the payment against the invoice and updates the balance; at zero the invoice flips to Paid in your history. A standalone receipt is labelled as standalone on the document itself.

Receipt questions

How does the balance due get computed?

From your own document history: pick the invoice, and the receipt shows its total, what has already been paid against it, and the balance after this payment. Pay ₹5,000 against an ₹11,800 invoice and the receipt shows ₹6,800 due; pay the rest and the invoice flips to Paid in your history.

Can I issue a receipt without an invoice?

Yes — choose the standalone option. The receipt is then labelled as a standalone receipt on the document itself, so it never pretends to settle an invoice it was never tied to.
