GST Invoice Generator

A tax invoice is only as good as its weakest rule. This generator checks all of them while you type: Rule 46 completeness, the place-of-supply split, GSTIN checksums, per-line tax, section 170 rounding — and exports a GSTR-1-ready file when you are done.

Worked example (the same numbers the engine is tested against): supplier in Maharashtra sells 10 × ₹1,000 at 18% to a buyer in Maharashtra → taxable ₹10,000, CGST ₹900 + SGST ₹900, total ₹11,800. Move the buyer to Karnataka and the same invoice becomes IGST ₹1,800, total ₹11,800 — a build that shows CGST/SGST on that invoice is wrong, and this one cannot.

Rule 46 completeness — checked live

A document that cannot pass Rule 46 is not marked ready. It can still be saved as a draft — honesty over blocking.

The export is GSTR-1-ready for the official offline tool/portal — review before filing. FacturaFit files nothing with GSTN. Schema status is shown on the GSTR-1 guide; if GSTN changes the schema before we update, the export pauses instead of producing a wrong file.

    How the split is decided

For goods, the default place of supply is where movement terminates for delivery; for services to a registered recipient, it is the recipient's location (IGST Act, sections 10–13). The tool pre-fills the place of supply from the buyer's state, lets you override it when the delivery story is different, and prints the rule it applied in the method note on the document — the explanation and the automation in the same place.

    Reverse charge

Tick the reverse-charge box and the invoice states "Tax payable on reverse charge basis: Yes", the export carries the RCM flag, and the amount payable to you excludes the tax — because the recipient self-pays it, and the document should say why the total looks different.

    What "ready" means here

The Rule 46 checklist above validates every mandatory field live — supplier and recipient details, serial (16 characters at most), HSN/SAC on every line, quantity with its unit, the tax split, the place of supply, the reverse-charge statement and the signature block. A document that cannot pass is not marked ready; it can still be saved as a draft. When the invoice is saved, issue the matching payment receipt against it, or correct it later with a credit note that mirrors its split. The full field-by-field reference is the Rule 46 guide, and the export's exact scope is in the GSTR-1 export guide.

    GST invoice questions

CGST/SGST or IGST — which applies to my invoice?

It follows the place of supply. If the place of supply is in your own state, the supply is intra-state: CGST + SGST, each at half the GST rate. If it is in another state, it is inter-state: IGST at the full rate. The tool decides from the place of supply and prints the rule it applied on the document.

What does the GSTR-1 export contain?

A JSON file structured for the official GSTN offline tool: B2B invoices grouped by recipient GSTIN with rate-wise item details, large inter-state B2C invoices in B2CL, and other B2C supplies summarised by place of supply and rate in B2CS. It is labelled GSTR-1-ready — review it in the official tool before filing. FacturaFit files nothing with GSTN.

Can I invoice a customer without a GSTIN?

Yes — leave the GSTIN empty and the sale is treated as B2C. In the export it goes to B2CL (large inter-state) or the B2CS summary instead of B2B. An invoice whose recipient GSTIN fails the checksum is flagged here and excluded from the B2B export rather than exported as if it were valid.

    How is the tax rounded?

Tax is computed per line. Under section 170 of the CGST Act, each tax component total is rounded to the nearest rupee at the invoice totals step; the taxable value itself stays exact to the paise. One line of ₹99.99 at 18% therefore shows tax of ₹18 and a total of ₹117.99.
